We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Surveyor to join our dynamic team and contribute to the successful execution of our ongoing and upcoming projects.
Position Overview:
The Surveyor will be responsible for utilizing advanced surveying techniques and equipment to ensure the precise layout and installation of various infrastructure components. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can collaborate effectively with project teams and maintain a high standard of accuracy in all survey-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilization of Surveying Equipment:
- Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment, including GPS and leveling instruments, to gather precise data essential for construction activities.
- Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly to achieve optimal results.
2. Field Layout:
- Assist in the layout of underground infrastructure, including utilities, drainage systems, and other critical components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Perform layout of surface features such as curblines, sidewalks, and roadway centerlines to guide construction efforts.
3. Fieldwork:
- Collaborate with construction crews onsite and assist with the installation of underground infrastructure.
- Provide guidance and accurate measurements to ensure that installations meet project specifications and quality standards.
4. Quality Control:
- Conduct regular checks on layouts and installations to ensure they meet project specifications.
- Perform quality control testing and compaction testing using portable moisture density gauges to verify the integrity of materials used.
5. Discrepancy Resolution:
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to survey data promptly to prevent delays in project timelines.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and team members to address concerns and implement solutions.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate survey documentation, including as-builts, plans, drawings, and reports to support project management and execution.
- Utilize software tools for data analysis and visualization to enhance project planning and execution and obtain quantities from survey data.
7. Quantity Collection:
- Assist project managers in collecting quantities from various job sites, ensuring that all data is accurate and up-to-date for project tracking and reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
P.Eng. or EIT with APEGNB, or CET / P. Tech. with NBSCETT (preferred).
Proven experience in surveying within the heavy civil construction sector.
Proficient in the use of surveying equipment (e.g., Surveyor’s level and GPS) and software (e.g., Carlson Civil 3D).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on active construction sites.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different job sites as required.
